investments

To date, we have raised and donated a total of $182,100 to over fifty organizations. Here is a partial list of our philanthropic investments:

Union League Boys & Girls Clubs (Board of Trustees) – Serving the after-school development needs of Chicago’s youth, providing quality programming centered on academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles to over 15,000 youth across Chicago. (Above: I’m proud to attend one of our new club grand openings!)

The Thomas H. Schnick / Roger D. Lloyd Endowed Scholarship – In honor of our fathers, we co-founded this endowment to support college scholarships for Chicago’s disadvantaged youth (in partnership with the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs). As a result of this commitment, we’ve been tapped as members of The Heritage Society (photo above).

Nourishing Hope (Feed the Future growth committee) One of Chicago’s largest and longest-operating food pantries, Nourishing Hope’s mission is to eliminate hunger and poverty in their community by providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people; empowering their clients to gain independence through innovative social service programs; and raising awareness of hunger and poverty and working towards solutions to eliminate them. Last year, they provided the equivalent of 4 million meals to people in communities throughout the city. That includes more than 21,000 families who turned to them for help for the first time.

Lincoln Park Zoo – We were thrilled to help support the capital campaign that resulted in the new lion and wildlife habitat…it truly is an amazing place. To have helped build Pilipili’s new home is a thrill for us. We also have gone big to support their Zoo For All Fund, which provides scholarships to their popular programs for kids and their families.

The Art Institute of Chicago – We support this iconic institution and their mission to share their singular collections with our city and the world and to inspire an expansive, inclusive understanding of human creativity. Also in process of working with them to expose this amazing place to more disadvantaged youth.

Shedd Aquarium – We have long adored the Shedd, particularly its animal rescue, wellness, and conservation programming. We have also made a sizable pledge to support the Shedd’s Centennial Commitment, a massive capital campaign in honor of its pending 100th anniversary in 2030!

SixDegrees.Org – We were thrilled to partner with Kevin Bacon and his team to bring the world PLAY ON, a live musical event that helped raise money for – and build awareness of – the global hunger crisis. We’ve also supported some of their first responder efforts during the early stages of the pandemic…

“With this ambitious project, I am thrilled to have The Todd & Stephanie Schnick Foundation as a part of the PLAY ON team. We are grateful for Todd and Stephanie’s full support.”

HFC – We were thrilled to support the work of Laura, Seth, and their wonderful team. We were proud to sponsor CareCon, a free, virtual event designed to educate, inspire, and empower Alzheimer’s and dementia family caregivers with support, knowledge, and community. CareCon was all about celebrating caregivers and bolstering their caregiving journey.

“HFC is grateful for the support of the Todd & Stephanie Schnick Foundation. Our combined efforts will bring us a long way toward kicking Alzheimer’s in the balzheimer’s.”

Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream ensures children from low‑income families have access to high‑quality books in the home environment and extensive family engagement support.

“Thank you for embracing our efforts to help young children enhance their overall academic success and life potential and ultimately, to realize their dreams. Your commitment is deeply appreciated. It inspires us to continue our work.”

Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement – In honor of Todd’s mother and Stephanie’s grandmother, we’ve lovingly support the work of Maria Shriver’s WAM, a community of determined people committed to changing the story of Women and Alzheimer’s once and for all. They do this by funding women-based Alzheimer’s research, supporting those impacted by the disease, and educating people about their brain health and Alzheimer’s prevention. We have been proud sponsors of multiple advocacy and awareness-building summits.

“I’m so grateful to Todd and Stephanie for supporting the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement. I’m thrilled that they have joined the movement to help wipe out Alzheimer’s once and for all. Thank you in advance for teaming up with Todd and Stephanie to support WAM’s education and research programs!”

Team Rubicon – Team Rubicon’s mission is providing relief to those affected by disaster or crises, no matter when or where they strike. By pairing the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders, medical professionals, and technology solutions, Team Rubicon aims to provide the greatest service and impact possible.

After-School All-Stars – After-School All-Stars, founded by Arnold Schwarzenegger, provides programs and transformative opportunities that help students develop the skills, knowledge, and habits needed to succeed in life, school, and their future career.  They deliver comprehensive, community-oriented programs to under-resourced students in five program areas: health + fitness, academic readiness, STEM, career exploration, and visual and performing arts.

College Possible Chicago and The Foundation To Be Named Later – one of our 2022 scholarship partners – a stronger Chicago begins by expanding equitable opportunities for students through education because a college degree is the surest pathway out of poverty and the key to community and economic vitality. Thrilled to partner with Theo Epstein and his amazing team!

World Central Kitchen – WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. The work they have done in the Ukraine is mind blowing.

SeaLegacy – Their mission is to create healthy and abundant oceans, for us and for the planet.

Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative – identify and develop gifted and motivated orchestral students from underrepresented backgrounds for acceptance into top-tier conservatory, college or university classical music programs in preparation for careers as professional musicians.
