Wellness notes, observations, and resources

I began my wellness journey in July 2020, where I quit drinking, lost thirty pounds, hired a nutritionist, and started weight-training for the first time in my life. Not surprisingly, life changed dramatically, and I have never felt better, had more clarity, or more energy. Here are some notes and observations from my journey:

  • We have discovered the fountain of youth. It’s called exercise…
  • The 25 best protein plant-based sources
  • The fundamentals of eating clean encourage you to consume more whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains and healthy fats — and limit highly processed snack foods, sweets and other packaged foods. (Mayo Clinic)
  • My daily goals: two servings of fruit, and three servings of vegetables. And 50-60 grams of protein.
  • Interesting to continue observing how technology is impacting wellness and health, especially the health care system itself. With regards to health care, we need to shift from them only making money when we are sick, to them making money when we are well…
  • The more I study philosophy, the more I realize its potent impact on my mental health…
  • When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use; when diet is correct, medicine is of no need. (Ayurvedic proverb)
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is rich in antioxidants which help protect the body from cellular damage.
