i launched this new blog on friday, july 24, 2026. i haven’t actively blogged in many, many years. and i missed it.
it was ray bradbury who summed up why: “you must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” blogging allows me to get things off my mind, say things i want to be said. i missed having a voice. and i had ZERO yearning to be present on the social media cesspools.
i’m also launching again in honor of my friend om malik, whom we recently lost. he was a good dude, and a BIG proponent of publishing on your own platform, and not the socials and tech platforms. i considered publishing on substack. would have been easier. but om is why i’ve relaunched my own website.
the difference this time, unlike when i first started blogging in the late aughts, i don’t give a shit if anyone reads it. back then, i was building a brand, trying to sell things, promote things, become a thought leader.
i was obsessed with traffic. upset when something didn’t land. i was addicted to the dopamine hits from likes, engagement, and shares. ADDICTED. what a joke that was.
now, i could care less. i really don’t care if anyone reads it. THIS. IS. FOR. ME.
back then, i had multiple websites, and was active on many social platforms. i would push the latest post on all those platforms relentlessly (apologies for years of that nauseating strategery).
no more. in fact, i’m not lifting a finger to push and promote. sure, you can subscribe if you want to. perhaps you’ll find something entertaining, or even helpful. but that’s on you. if you do look at some of my stuff, as always, i’ll be most grateful for the attention.
honestly, i could just keep my writing private. but there is something to be said for putting stuff out into the world (even if no one sees it). there’s an edge that comes with getting it out there. and that’s invigorating.
so here we are. i’ll be blogging on random stuff, things i want to get off my chest. and a post is never finished. i reserve the right to continuously edit, add, subtract, change it. the home page will be my chapbook, a digital scrapbook of random little things, quotes, photographs, inspirational bits and pieces. i will promise no regularity. some days i’ll publish a lot, but then might go weeks with silence.
i. don’t. care. i’m old enough now, and have earned the right, to do what i want, when i want.
it’s good to be back. if you drop by now and then, thank you! it’s good to have a voice out in the world again.
